CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH STUDY

Study Title: Durability of Semantic and Autobiographical Memory for Jingles

Why is this study being done?

The purpose of this study is to examine memory for jingles and the products they advertise as well as any autobiographical memories that they might evoke. The information that you provide may help health professionals better understand and learn more about the use of musical stimuli to prompt memories for healthy and cognitively impaired individuals.

What side effects or risks can I expect from being in the study?

There are no side effects or risks associated with this study.

Are there benefits to taking part in the study?

You might experience nostalgia, which has been shown to be a psychologically beneficial emotion.

Incentives for participation

To thank you for participating in our study, UC Davis students will receive one research credit on SONA. All other individuals who complete the study will be entered in a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card that will be awarded to 1 in 25 participants.

Will information about me be kept private?

Information about you will be handled as confidentially as possible. The data are transmitted to a computer server via a secure connection and your name is associated with a unique identifier in an encrypted data table. Your responses are maintained separately and associated only with the identifier. If information from this study is published or presented at scientific meetings, your name or other identifying information will not be used without your permission.
